Walk with a donkey - trekking 2-3 km - visit to the Bohemian Paradise farm including a walk

The donkey is a kind, intelligent and sociable creature, wandering in its company gives a completely different dimension to being in nature, enriching you with unique moments and breathtaking experiences! Whether you decide to go alone, on a romantic trip with your loved one or with your children or friends, you will have a lot of fun on the way!

Donkey trekking, or wandering with a donkey, is a specialty. It is a unique opportunity to experience the interaction with a donkey, when you lead it yourself, to get to know its nature on your own, to enjoy the beauty of the surrounding nature gently (on longer trips the donkey will carry your things in bags), to try overcoming real terrain obstacles such as jumping over a stream or climbing up a hill (appropriate to your abilities and physical condition).

Children up to 50 kg (up to 40 kg on a standard donkey or up to 50 on a large French donkey) can ride comfortably in the saddle, older children can try their hand at leading it. You can even bring your relatives - grandparents etc., which makes this trip so unique that the whole family can take part and spend unforgettable moments.

The walk can be done in the area of Svárov u Prahy/Křivoklátsko and in the area near Turnov/Czech Paradise. In the area in Bohemian Paradise the route of the walk leads through a beautiful village with typical folk architecture with views of the dominant features of Bohemian Paradise, but it is less shaded. For this reason, we plan the dates of the walks for the morning or later afternoon on hot summer days.

If you let children ride in the saddle, it is necessary to provide an adequate number of adults on your side - for one donkey you need the presence of at least 2 adults, fully "active" adults - 1 leads the donkey, the other secures (holds) the child from the side. A chaperone with a stroller or leashed dog is not considered "able-bodied". If you don't have enough attendants, you can order an assisting guide from us.

And how does such a trek take place?

When you arrive at the farm, you will see together the animals on the farm - several species of donkeys (e.g. even the rare breed of the large French donkey Poitou or the mini donkey, the donkey operator will tell you many interesting facts about the donkey world and its specifics. Afterwards, you will clean the donkeys together and talk about basic information regarding their behaviour and handling. Then you can try interacting with the donkey on the obstacles. Together you will also saddle them up, pack everything you need for longer hikes into transport saddles and you can set off...

After that, you will be able to wander according to the length and difficulty of the trip.

We try to adapt the course of the trip to our participants. The length of the route for a two-hour trip is about 2.5 - 3 km. We take breaks as needed. We have several routes that we choose between depending on the weather and the fitness of the participants. The adrenaline trail in Svárovo is always individual and must be arranged in advance and is only accessible in good weather.

What about the dog? Can he go for a walk?

If you have your own dog and he is well-behaved, he is welcome to join us too! He can go for a walk or hike with us on a leash, as long as there is a person available to guide him and he doesn't have to be involved in leading the donkey and harnessing the children in the saddle.

Recommendation:

We recommend booking your tour dates several weeks in advance. In case of very bad weather - heavy rain, ice, etc. the trip will not take place and you can choose another date.

Even though the trail is located in the rain shadow, it is recommended to bring a raincoat. Wear sturdy, closed shoes, as donkeys weigh about 200-300 kg and stepping on a foot cannot be ruled out. Children are required to wear a helmet when riding the donkey.
